Continuing the parrot/parakeet theme from the previous post, I thought I should also add that I've seen these chaps strolling the streets near my flat, a feathered friend (loro = parrot) upon their shoulders.
Hippies are known in Spain by the rather derogative term "perroflauta" - literally the type of person you'd supposedly see begging with a dog (perro) and a flute (flauta). Logically then, when a Spanish hippy has a parrot not a dog, what else can you call him?
The Spanish for retired person is jubilao. So one with a parrot would be...... yeah, geddit?
