I recently bought famous French comic-book artist Blutch’s first publication in English “So Long Silver Screen”, a surreal and disturbing look at the fascination of the cinema, which includes a rather brilliant commentary on women in film, using Jean Luc Godard's film ‘Le Mépris’ as a focal point.
I'd seen the film not so long ago - it's pretty uncomfortable and depressing, but it's worth watching. Anyway, it's clear that Godard was obsessed with one thing:
I'm talking about colour, of course.
I heartily recommend Blutch's book - while he actually constructs a meaningful argument out of his material, admittedly I’ve just chosen to draw Brigitte Bardot's bottom.
